THE WORLD WIDE LAB
11 directors, 8 countries.
The WorldWideLab is a collective of eleven theater directors from across the globe committed to producing collaborative, director-driven work. The group first came together in the 2011 Lincoln Center Theater Directors' Lab and further developed their working methods at the Watermill Center the following year.
The collective gathered at the Irondale Center in Brooklyn in the summers of 2012 and 2013 to develop new work and present it to a New York audience. In October 2014, they created five new plays with an Italian cast at Theater Due in Rome, Italy. The 2015 Lab presented a two-hour show of new work with a Greek cast and design team at the Apollo Theater on the island of Syros in Greece. In 2016, the Lab produced its first site-specific work at Art Zone in Taipei, Taiwan.
